Mumbai Indians (MI) has signed Indian international left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma as a replacement for the injured G. Kamalini for the rest of the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL) season.
Vaishnavi made her international debut in India’s recent T20I series against Sri Lanka, taking five wickets in five matches, and was also a member of India’s squad that won the U-19 T20 World Cup in 2025.
She has never featured in the WPL before, and initially went unsold in the mega-auction ahead of the 2026 season that was conducted prior to her international debut.

Mumbai Indians has not specified the nature of wicketkeeper-batter Kamalini’s injury, although her absence will come as a blow as she has featured in all five games the team has played thus far. Her absence also means that Rahila Firdous is the only recognised wicketkeeper remaining in the squad.
MI is currently second in the WPL table, having won two and lost three of its matches thus far.
